I was doing a music class with some kids at Goongerah school, playing the guitar and singing, when a little black fly flew into my eye and just sat there. It was very annoying as I was trying to sing, play the guitar and the blow the fly out of my eye (which is almost impossible to do unless you are an echidna with a long tongue!). After I finished the song we were singing I said to the kids that I was “going to write a song about a fly in my eye” after the lesson, which I did! It was one of those moments when it seems that the song was just floating in the universe and I put my antennae up and it came to me, as it seemed to write itself in only 20 or so minutes. After the song was finished I remarked to one of the older kids, Indigo, who was sitting there eating her lunch, “That’s not a bad one, is it?” “Not bad,” she replied…"not bad..."
